If you’re planning to use complimentary buses or watercraft from Disney Springs to any Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you need to know about a major change taking effect this month.

Disney has officially confirmed that the transportation verification test is now a permanent policy. New signage has been spotted at the shopping and dining district, giving guests a clear heads-up before the rule takes effect on June 28. The photos were taken by BlogMickey.

The signs are strategically placed at the bus loops and watercraft docks—right where guests would line up to board. The message is simple: No valid resort stay, dining reservation, or experience booking means no ride.

New Transportation Rules Begin June 28

Beginning June 28, guests without a valid reservation will no longer be permitted to use Disney Resort bus transportation from Disney Springs. Guests who do qualify will be required to verify their reservation by scanning a MagicBand or presenting confirmation before boarding.

Disney says the change is intended to help maintain transportation availability and efficiency for Disney Resort guests.

Water Transportation Also Impacted

The policy isn’t limited to buses.

Disney has confirmed that the same restrictions will apply to the Sassagoula River Cruise, the water transportation route serving Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts.

Guests should also note that Annual Passholders are not exempt from the new policy. Passholders will still need a qualifying reservation to use resort transportation departing from Disney Springs.

Why Disney Is Making the Change

The announcement follows a series of transportation restriction tests Disney conducted earlier this year during peak attendance periods. Those temporary measures were first introduced in March and later removed in April while Disney evaluated guest flow and transportation demand.

This week’s confirmation makes the restrictions permanent and expands them to include both bus and boat transportation.

Importantly, the new policy only affects transportation leaving Disney Springs. Guests can still visit Disney Resort hotels using other transportation methods, including parking at Disney theme parks and utilizing Disney’s transportation network from those locations where applicable.
