There are so many incredible places to stay at Walt Disney World, but today I want to talk about one of my absolute favorites that I honestly don’t think gets nearly enough attention: a Theme Park View room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s worth the investment, my answer is simple: yes. Let’s start with one of the biggest reasons I love Disney’s Contemporary Resort: its location. You simply cannot beat it. You’re about a 10-minute walk to the Magic Kingdom entrance, you have your own dedicated security checkpoint, and the monorail literally travels right through the middle of the resort. It doesn’t get much more classic Disney than that!
For families with young children especially, the convenience is incredible. Being able to walk back for naps, avoid transportation at the end of a long park day, or quickly pop back to your room is such a game changer. And then there’s the food. From fantastic table-service restaurants to a great quick-service location, it’s one of those resorts that really checks every box for families.
But here’s where I think the magic really begins. If you’re going to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, my recommendation is to make the investment in the main tower with a Theme Park View. The moment you walk into your room and step out onto that balcony, you’ll understand why! You’re not just looking at a theme park, you have what truly feels like your own private view of Magic Kingdom.
Front and center is the beautiful silhouette of Cinderella Castle. You’ll spot iconic attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Right now, you can even catch a glimpse of the construction taking place for the future Villains Land, which means these rooms should offer an incredible view once that area opens.Throughout the day you’ll hear the Walt Disney World Railroad making its way around the park, catch music from the park drifting through the air, and even hear the Festival of Fantasy Parade as it passes by. It genuinely feels like you’re as close to Magic Kingdom as you can possibly be without actually being inside the park.
Then the evening arrives! As the sun sets and the lights come on around Magic Kingdom, the view completely transforms. When “Happily Ever After,” or whatever nighttime spectacular is being presented, begins, you have an incredible front-row seat from your own private balcony. You can watch the fireworks light up the sky, see Tinker Bell soar from Cinderella Castle, and experience all of the emotion of the show without ever leaving your room.
Some of my favorite memories have been grabbing snacks, changing into pajamas after a long park day, and enjoying the fireworks from the balcony. If little ones are exhausted, they’re already comfortable and ready for bed. If you just don’t have the energy to fight the crowds after a full day in the parks, you still get to experience one of Disney’s most magical moments.
And truly, the room itself is so fun! The Contemporary’s refurbished rooms are themed after The Incredibles, and Disney struck the perfect balance. The theming is playful without feeling overwhelming. You’ll find fun details everywhere, from the Frozone and Edna Mode accent pillows to subtle character silhouettes hidden in the curtains.
But my favorite feature? The CLOSET! I never thought I’d have a favorite Disney closet, but here we are. Open the doors and you’ll discover adorable superhero costumes designed to look as though they’re hanging inside waiting for the Parr family to come home. Even behind the coffee station, Disney tucked in fun little design elements that make you smile every time you notice something new. The room has a sleek, futuristic feel that perfectly matches the Contemporary’s iconic style while still delivering all of the warmth and Disney magic you’d hope for.
That’s why I always tell clients this isn’t simply a hotel room! It’s an experience. From waking up to Cinderella Castle outside your window to ending the night with fireworks from your balcony, every moment feels just a little more magical. Staying in a Theme Park View Room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will check off every box you have dreaming of your perfect Walt Disney World vacation, I can promise you!
