The pumpkins are glowing on Main Street, U.S.A., the grim grinning ghosts are coming out to socialize, and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has officially returned to Magic Kingdom for the 2026 Halloween season.
And after the first party night, one thing is already clear: guests who have attended Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in previous years shouldn’t assume they know exactly what to expect this time around.
The separately ticketed Halloween event returned to Walt Disney World on August 7 and is scheduled to take place on select nights through October 31, 2026. This year’s party combines returning favorites with a surprisingly substantial collection of new and modified entertainment experiences.
Among the biggest changes are all-new Haunted Mansion characters greeting arriving party guests, Captain Jack Sparrow’s new Buccaneer Bash in Adventureland, Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup in Tomorrowland and a change to Max Goof’s Powerline entertainment.
There are also new character opportunities and, naturally, some highly collectible Halloween popcorn buckets.
For families planning a fall Walt Disney World vacation, the changes make advance planning particularly important. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party packs a tremendous amount of entertainment into a limited number of hours, and trying to experience everything in a single night can be difficult without knowing what to prioritize.

Max Goof’s Powerline Party Has Changed
One of the more noticeable entertainment changes involves Max Goof and his fan-favorite Powerline-inspired appearance.
Fans of A Goofy Movie will immediately recognize the look.
Max appears in the familiar yellow Powerline-inspired costume referencing the climax of Disney’s 1995 animated film, when Max dresses like superstar performer Powerline before eventually joining Goofy onstage during the concert.
The Powerline entertainment has been part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party since 2022, but its presentation has changed for 2026.
In previous years, Max and his dancers could be found on Main Street, U.S.A. shortly before Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. The energetic group essentially transformed the parade route into a roaming ’90s dance party before the main parade began.
That familiar pre-parade appearance was absent on the first party night of 2026.
Instead, Max and his “Powerline Party Pack” are appearing as a roaming/stage entertainment offering at locations during the party, including the Adventureland Stage.
Max is joined by backup dancers dressed in colorful costumes that lean heavily into the unmistakable aesthetic of the 1990s.
For returning guests, this is an important planning change.
Anyone accustomed to simply arriving on Main Street early for Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and getting a Powerline performance as an added bonus should not count on that strategy in 2026.
Instead, guests who specifically want to see Max in his Powerline look should treat the performance as its own entertainment priority.
It is a relatively small operational change, but it illustrates a much bigger point about special-event planning at Walt Disney World: even familiar experiences can change from year to year.
The Haunted Mansion Is Taking Over the Party Entrance
One of 2026’s most atmospheric additions begins almost immediately after party guests arrive.
New Haunted Mansion characters have been added to the party experience, extending the attraction’s eerie storytelling beyond Liberty Square.
Among the new faces is Blair Lockward, identified as the Haunted Mansion’s chief steward.
Lockward welcomes arriving guests and encourages their “bodies” to continue along the party walkway, where guests can collect their first candy of the evening.
It sets the tone immediately.
Instead of the Halloween atmosphere beginning only after guests have made their way deeper into Magic Kingdom, Disney is using characters to turn the arrival itself into part of the entertainment.
Guests can also encounter the Haunted Mansion’s famous gravediggers, offering another opportunity for photos before the performers appear later in Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade.
And there is another new Mansion personality waiting farther along the route: Lady Fermotta.
The addition is especially appealing for Haunted Mansion fans because these characters provide something different from a traditional meet-and-greet.
Rather than simply waiting in a conventional character line, guests are encountering personalities who help establish the macabre-but-playful atmosphere that defines Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
For Disney fans who love immersive storytelling, it is exactly the kind of detail that can make the event feel different from an ordinary evening at Magic Kingdom.
“The Haunted Mansion has always been such a natural fit for Halloween, so bringing more of that storytelling out into the party is a really fun addition,” Bohm said. “These are the moments our clients often remember most — not necessarily just an attraction they rode, but a character interaction or something unexpected that happened while they were walking through the park.”
Stitch Is Throwing a Masquerade in Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland has a new Halloween party of its own.
Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup is a new dance-party experience at the Rockettower Plaza Stage, located between Space Mountain and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.
And Stitch isn’t partying alone.
Guests can dance alongside Lilo, Stitch and Angel, giving families another character-focused entertainment option during the evening.
Dance parties can be particularly valuable for families traveling with younger children because they provide a more flexible experience than many traditional character greetings.
Instead of spending a significant portion of the party waiting for a single photo, families can stop by, dance, enjoy the music and decide how long they want to stay.
It also gives Stitch fans another reason to build Tomorrowland into their party plans rather than concentrating entirely on the parade route, castle entertainment and the character-heavy areas of Fantasyland.
Captain Jack Sparrow Is Recruiting a Crew
Adventureland also received one of the party’s biggest new entertainment additions.
Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash brings Captain Jack Sparrow into a much more interactive role at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Captain Jack has appeared at previous Halloween parties, but the 2026 experience expands his presence into an entertainment offering built around the idea that the legendary pirate has come to port looking for new recruits.
During the experience, Captain Jack selects potential members of his crew and invites guests to participate in pirate activities — including learning the art of swordplay.
Disney describes the experience as a pirate recruitment mission and a “gallant quest.”
The entertainment incorporates pirate tricks and treats, a salty pirate band, daring jugglers and references to sailor superstitions.
Most importantly, this is intended to be interactive.
Guests aren’t simply watching Captain Jack perform from a distance. They may become part of the experience themselves as they learn the customs required to join his crew.
That distinction makes Buccaneer Bash particularly interesting for families.
A child who loves pirates, for example, may consider being recruited by Captain Jack one of the highlights of the entire vacation.
The experience is scheduled within a broad 7 p.m. to midnight window, rather than being presented only at a small number of traditional showtimes. That suggests guests should expect entertainment to take place throughout the evening with periodic breaks.
The format also raises an interesting question for longtime party fans.
Adventureland has historically featured the Rusty Cutlass pirate band during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney’s description of Buccaneer Bash references a “salty pirate band” but does not specifically identify Rusty Cutlass.
Regardless of exactly how the entertainment evolves during the season, Adventureland is clearly retaining its role as the pirate headquarters of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
“Interactive entertainment can completely change how a child remembers a Disney vacation,” Bohm said. “Watching Captain Jack Sparrow is fun. Getting recruited into his crew and actually becoming part of the story is something entirely different. When we help families plan these events, those are the experiences we want to identify ahead of time so they don’t accidentally walk right past something their kids would have loved.”

New Halloween Popcorn Buckets Arrive for 2026
For Disney merchandise collectors, Halloween party season means one thing in addition to costumes, candy and characters: popcorn buckets.
And the 2026 collection includes two designs likely to attract significant attention.
Party guests can purchase a Headless Horseman popcorn bucket and Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost popcorn bucket.
Both are exclusive to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and are available as popcorn add-ons.
The Hatbox Ghost bucket features the Haunted Mansion character and his recognizable teal-glowing skull imagery.
The Headless Horseman bucket depicts the legendary rider on horseback holding his jack-o’-lantern “head” above him.
That character has a particularly strong connection to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party because the Headless Horseman is one of the event’s most recognizable icons.
There is an important catch for collectors.
The two party-exclusive buckets are sold only at the two snack carts near Cinderella Castle, and availability is while supplies last.
Disney is limiting purchases to two of each bucket per person, per transaction.
Collectors hoping to purchase one should therefore consider merchandise availability when planning their evening rather than assuming the buckets will still be available at the end of the party.
You Don’t Need a Halloween Party Ticket for Every Halloween Souvenir
Two additional seasonal items are available during regular Magic Kingdom operating hours, meaning guests do not need admission to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to purchase them.
Those items are the Vampire Mickey Mouse popcorn bucket and the Winnie the Pooh Hunny Bee sipper.
The Hunny Bee sipper is available with a fountain beverage purchase at Pinocchio Village Haus.
Vampire Mickey can be found at snack carts throughout Magic Kingdom during daytime hours on party dates.
Limited availability is also expected on non-party dates at locations including:
