Opening in 1988, the resort was designed as the crown jewel of Walt Disney World, drawing direct inspiration from the famed Victorian beach resorts of Florida’s late 19th-century coast, like the Hotel del Coronado. Its pristine white buildings, red-tiled roofs, and sprawling verandas were meant to evoke the grandeur and romance of America’s Gilded Age. A Sophisticated New Addition: The Lobby Bar
As part of this final stage, we are thrilled about the addition of a brand-new Grand Floridian Lobby Bar. Promising to be a new go-to destination for relaxation, this sophisticated watering hole is inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage. Imagine settling into a plush chair, a crafted cocktail in hand, surrounded by soft piano music, golden chandeliers, and lush floral arrangements. It’s set to be the perfect spot to soak in the unparalleled grandeur of the Grand Floridian atmosphere.
Navigating the Changes with Disney Magic
Of course, a transformation of this scale requires some temporary adjustments. For the 2025 holiday season, the beloved life-size gingerbread house that traditionally graces the lobby will be paused. But never fear—Disney has confirmed that festive treats will still be available to keep the holiday spirit alive!
Additionally, the traditional front desk has been temporarily removed to accommodate construction. True to form, Disney is ensuring guest comfort remains a top priority with temporary, well-appointed seating areas, convenient check-in tables, and thoughtful amenities like spa water and park maps readily available.
This grand project is scheduled for completion in November 2025, and we cannot wait to see the final result.
